From Louise Cameron (who heads up Rose-Act Saturday School)

I want to share the most incredible (me of little faith) story with you.
2 weeks ago I went through all the computer recorded attendances and to my dismay found that only 5 Rose-act students had had 100% attendance in BOTH term and term 2. I was so cross (only 5) that to really build those 5 students up, I announced at Assembly that, as I regarded attendance so highly, I personally would pay the entire R300 for those kids. I raved about how disappointing the whole thing was. BUT, after the assembly, several students came up to me and said that they too had not been absent at all for both terms. So I checked the registers themselves with the kids, and lo and behold they were right. So then I went back to the computer with the volunteer who inputs the attendance data, and together we realised that the wrong formula had been used in several columns. (GGggrrrrrr). So then I decided to check ALL the data on the computer with the real registers, and was horrified (yet extremely delighted) to find that in fact 55 students across the grades had 100% for both terms.
Now I was in a pickle, as I had promised to pay for 5 students, but there was no way I could afford to pay for 55. But I had promised the first 5, and couldn’t now say, sorry I can’t do it now, OR I’ll do it for you 5 but can’t for the other 50. So then I stood up at assembly and told them what had happened, BUT… that I would stand by my promise that all students with 100% for both terms would get their entire camp fee paid. Then I said something I have never said before: That God would come up with the rest of the money.
They all clapped and I thought only God could have put that in my mouth. This last Tuesday when I got into work, I was notified that a donation for camp had come in from the UK (ex RUC person) for R10,600. I thought WOW. Then I did the sums and realised that we needed R16,500 to keep my promise. That day I received another R5,000 from the daughter of one of our tutors. I asked Jennifer from Rays of Hope what other money had come in for camp and she said about R2000. So we are looking at R17, 600 being donated for camp so far.
Isn’t that just amazing!!!!!! I can’t wait now to go back to the kids at assembly and say: “See, I told you so, God provided the R16,500 we needed”. I have goose bumps just writing it.
Just thought you would like to know. So that’s 55 students going to attend camp straight away.
What I did realise though, when I told the 55 they could go to camp, was that most of them had never been on a camp before, and would never have had the money to even find the deposit. They were almost teary, and certainly over the moon. Talking to a friend and blaming myself for not checking the computer input, she said that maybe God had actually allowed the mistake SO THAT these kids could go to camp.
Whatever…HOORAY!!!!
