Courses

Four 8-week foundational modules are offered and repeated every year. Additional, specialized modules include a variety of subjects and are offered on demand and depending on the size of the class. Each module is a self-contained unit. Modules run consecutively through Semesters 1 - 4.


The foundational modules are:






Module 1


Introduction to the Bible (Semester 1)


An introduction to the origin, background and purpose of the Bible 



  • The Bible in historical context: world events, Israel and the Church

  • Formation of the Old and New Testament

  • The history of Israel between the Testaments

  • Inspiration & authority of the Bible

  • Language, text and manuscripts of the Old and New Testament.

  • Translations of the Bible

  • Interpretation of the Bible

  • Places and names in the Bible

 



Module 2


Old Testament Survey (Semester 2)


A book-by-book study of the Old Testament



  • Historical context of OT events

  • Summary of the contents and outline of each book

  • Basic message of each of the books of the Old Testament

  • Highlights from each book of the Old Testament

  • Reading selected passages from each Old Testament book

  • Application of Old Testament message 

 



Module 3


New Testament Survey (Semester 3)


A book-by-book study of the New Testament



  • Historical context of New Testament events

  • Summary of the contents and outline of each book

  • Basic message of each of the books of the New Testament

  • Highlights from each book of the New Testament

  • Reading selected passages from each New Testament book

  • Application of New Testament to daily living

 



Module 4


The Big Picture: Major Pillars of the Bible (Semester 4)


A study of the basic message of the Bible and our understanding of God



  • Our belief in God: Who God is and what he does

  • Creation and revelation: How God works in the world

  • Humankind, sin and the spiritual world: God’s relationship with us

  • Jesus Christ: Who Jesus is and how he works

  • The Holy Spirit: Who He is and how he works

  • The Church: What the church is and how it operates

  • Our mission: What the church should do in the world

  • The Second Coming: God’s Kingdom and the End Times

 



Specialized Courses for 2012


The main campus is also able to offer the following specialised modules in 2012:


Module 2: (Monday nights only) A course on Worship led by Pastor Justin Tamlin. Topics include the Theology of Worship, Worship in the Scriptures and History; The Role and Task of the Worship Leader; Team Ministry.


Module 3: (Monday nights and Wednesday mornings) A Book Study on 'Acts' lectured by Mrs Denise Rogers.
