Seniors & Rosehaven

Rosehaven Retirement Village
In 1967 the members of the RUC voted to open a fund for the establishment of a Home for the Elderly. During 1968/69 the appointed Committee commenced fundraising. In 1970 two adjacent houses in Rosebank were purchased for what became known as Rosehaven. Four residents moved into the one house, while the matron and her husband lived in the other.

Three years later a church family made available to the church, at the minimal cost of R33 900, nine stands in Hurlingham, and the building of Rosehaven Retirement Village commenced. In God’s good time - twenty-five years later – the Church was sited across the road. The facilities can accommodate 88 residents and includes: 35 cottages, 8 apartments and 22 rooms in the main block.

Rosehaven is self-supporting, managed by volunteers, and has a dedicated full-time staff of 33. Throughout its history Rosehaven has maintained a caring Christian atmosphere, largely due to its close links with RUC and the calibre of its matrons. Rosehaven has continued to provide a service which cares for the physical and spiritual needs, as well as the social interaction of those over age 60 with the opportunity for spiritual growth in a truly Christian and friendly environment. ‘Lin Barratt is the RUC Representative for Rosehaven.
