Thirty-three of us left on 8 May for our 10-day trip to Israel and Egypt (one day stop-over). Eighteen were from RUC, while the others came from Pretoria, West Rand, Cape Town, Eastern Cape and Durban – quite a mix. The group quickly gelled and we all had a very good time.

It was a wonderful experience to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. A visit to Israel brings the Bible places and events to life; it is great to be able to “make the connection” between well-known stories from the Bible and the places where they actually took place. The land of Israel is a fascinating place – not without its political problems, but certainly worth a visit by every Christian.

The visit to one of Egypt's pyramid areas was an eye-opener. After our one-day stop in Cairo, we came back “moeg” but stimulated in our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
